Human Rights Defender Nasta Loika is Detained Again and Sentenced to 15 Days of Administrative Arrest

On October 28, human rights defender Nasta Loika was detained. A video featuring Nasta appeared on the law enforcement Telegram channel.

On October 31, the Pervomaisky District Court considered her administrative case under Article 19.1 of the Administrative Code (“petty hooliganism”). Ultimately, the court imposed 15 days of administrative arrest as a punishment. The case was heard online, a lawyer was physically present in the courtroom, and Nasta participated in the proceedings via videoconference from the place of detention.

Nasta Loika has already been prosecuted for her human rights activities: since August 2021 she has been a suspect in a criminal case related to the human rights organization "Viasna". In September 2022, after attending a "Revolutionary Action" trial, Nasta was convicted twice for petty hooliganism and spent 30 days in detention. Three weeks after her release, Nasta was detained again allegedly for “assistance to extremism”.
